Prayers for Everyday

BOUNTIFUL HARVEST

Today my husband
went out to the garden
after a second day of rain
to check on the tomatoes
and came back with a dozen
from his single plant.
He will share them with people
in our retirement complex
and with the string quartet
he’s practicing with this morning.
Your bounty is overwhelming, Lord.
I’m grateful that I don’t have to can them,
as my grandmothers did.
Thank you for all your love for us.

Genesis 8:22:
As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall not cease.
