Prayers for Everyday

FLOWERS

It’s getting colder Lord.
This morning
my husband mentioned
that the bird bath
in the garden
had a film of ice on it,
yet the strawflowers
and zinnias
are still doing well.
On our balcony
a geranium
and boxes of begonias
are so far unaffected.
In our living room
African violets, clematis,
and an orchid
are blooming.
Flowers are an inspiration.
Thank you, Lord, for flowers.

Matthew 6:28-29:
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you. even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.
