Prayers for Everyday

As we approach a special day
for giving you thanks, Lord,
we are reminded
of how fortunate we are.
We have food, shelter,
family, and friends.
We read in the newspaper of people
who have lost everything
in natural disasters and war.
Agencies try to furnish necessities
by appealing for funds.
Open our hearts, Lord,
that others may know
your love and care.

Proverbs 22:9:
Those who are generous are blessed, for they share their bread with the poor.

Luke 3:11:
In reply he (John the Baptist) said to them, “Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none; and whoever has food must do likewise.”
