Prayers for Everyday

CHRISTMAS FLOWERS

Dear Lord, my husband brought home
a Christmas cactus
from the grocery store
on Saturday.
Later he bought
a small poinsettia
for the little shelf
outside our door.
Our cyclamen,
the Swedish Christmas flower,
which our grandson gave me
two years ago,
continues to bloom.
These flowers
carry out the message
of your birth,
and our birth to new life.
Thank you, Dear Lord.

Isaiah 40:8:
The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever.

Hymn: Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming
