Prayers for Everyday

CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON

Our church gave a luncheon
for people over 50, Lord,
and lo and behold a 51 year old
showed up at our table
of octogenarians.
We entertained him with the past,
and he explained his work.
It was so nice to hear about
things in the present.
Remind me, Lord,
to keep up to date.
Life isn’t over yet.

Psalm 90:10:
The days of our life are seventy years, or perhaps eighty, if we are strong.

Luke 10:25-28:
Just then a lawyer stood up to test Jesus, “Teacher,” he said, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the law? What do you read there?” He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have given the right answer; do this, and you will live.”

Luke 12:25:
“And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?”
