Prayers for Everyday

EXERCISE

O Lord, now we begin
to exercise in order to take off
the pounds we have gained
over the holidays.
We enjoyed the cakes,
candy, and cookies,
but now the time of reckoning
has come.
Exercise at the gym,
walking, or running
around the ponds
of our retirement community
is prescribed.
We rely on your love
in spite of our indulgence.
Lord, give us strength. Amen.

Psalm 147:10-11:
His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the speed of the runner; but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.
