Last Sunday our church celebrated
the coming of the Wise Men
to the Christ Child, O Father God.
They are the sign
that this baby is for all people,
not only for the Jews.
When we tend to be exclusive, Father,
remind us that your son came
to be the light of the whole world.
Don’t allow us to hide your light
under a bushel of our prejudice.
He [the Lord] says, “It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the survivors of Israel; I will give you as a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”
“No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar, but on the lampstand so that those who enter may see the light.”
And Jesus spoke to them saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
