Lord, yesterday the film of Jackie Robinson
was shown in the theater
of our retirement community.
Branch Rickey,
the owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers,
who hired Jackie Robinson
as the first black baseball player
in the Major Leagues,
often quoted scripture.
Both the owner and the player
held up under pressure
from hostile crowds.
Thank you, Lord, for those
who stand up for the right
and show us the way.

EPHESIANS 6:10-11:
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
