Prayers for Everyday

Lord, you call us
to be servants.
You want us to be humble,
when we want to be proud.
We are amazed
when a baseball great
like Cal Ripkin
continues to be humble
and goes on to teach
youngsters the game.
And former President Jimmy Carter
continues to teach
a Sunday school class
in his church and help with
Habitat for Humanity.
Lord, open my eyes to see
where you want me to serve
in your kingdom today.

Matthew 20:25-27:
But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them. It will not be so among you; but whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave.”
