Prayers for Everyday

RICH

Father God, by the world’s standards
middle class people in our country
are rich. Every day many of us
spend money on food
that isn’t healthy
and things we don’t need.
If we work hard, we feel entitled.
But not everyone is physically able to work.
And for many there are no jobs.
In our technical society, people need
to learn new skills in order to work.
Father, you care for all of us.
Open our eyes to the needs
of our brothers and sisters
and our hearts to respond
in meaningful ways.

Luke 18:24-27:
Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God! Indeed it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?” He replied, “What is impossible for mortals is possible for God.”
