O Gracious God, yesterday
my husband and I walked out to our garden
between melting piles of snow
and a slight pattering of rain.
The daffodils and tulips are coming up.
The weeds are thriving.
They are green among last year’s stalks.
How I wanted to sort them out!
We sat on the bench awhile
and enjoyed ourselves.
In another garden we saw a yellow crocus.
Thank you, Gracious God, for creating plants.
They give such pleasure.
Then God said, “Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it.” And it was so.
