Prayers for Everyday

GOOD FOOD

Lord, I am baking cookies
to share at a meeting today.
I wonder if your mother
made special treats for you.
Most Near Eastern people do not eat
foods that are as sweet as ours.
The Israelites looked forward
to a land flowing with “milk and honey.”
John the Baptist ate locusts and wild honey.
I am glad to use sugar
purchased at the store, Lord.
Thank you for all our good food.

Proverbs 24:13:
My child, eat honey, for it is good, and the drippings of the honeycomb are sweet to the taste.

Mark 1:6:
Now John was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey.
