Dear Lord, yesterday my husband and I
attended a meeting for candidates
for public office. Six men and women
answered questions put to them
by the leader on various issues
of public interest. Then the audience
could ask questions. There was a
two minute limit to answers.
Soon there will be an election
and we will vote for three of them.
We are fortunate to live in a country
where leaders are chosen by peaceful means.
Thank you, Lord, for elections.
Then they prayed and said, “Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which one of these two you have chosen to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place.” And they cast lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias; and he was added to the eleven apostles.
