Yesterday, Lord, I brought cookies
for the morning coffee sponsored by our floor
of this retirement home.
In the afternoon my husband
arranged for and played his viola
at a concert in our building.
Today is my dental appointment.
It may not seem like much, Lord,
but it keeps us busy.
I have books to read,
but my eyes have been bothering me.
Lord, I’d hoped to sail off into the blue,
not grind to a halt.
I need equanimity and humor
to keep me focused on your way
during times of busyness.
What gain have the workers form their toil? I have seen the business that God has given to everyone to be busy with. He has made everything suitable for its time.
