OUT TO PASTURE

Ah, Lord, have I reached the point
where it’s time to let go
and let others do your work?
I’m not as old as some, Lord,
but I’m older than a lot of others.
You told Elijah that he could retire
and anoint Elisha to take his place.
Younger people are eager
to replace the old.
Thank you, Lord, that you allow
older folks to go out to pasture
and just enjoy your presence.

2 Kings 2:9
When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me what I may do for you, before I am taken from you.”  Elisha said, “Please let me inherit a double share of your spirit.”
