O Lord God, we give you thanks for flowers.
Yesterday we bought plants and seeds
for a window box and for the garden.
When we walked past lilies in the garden,
we were reminded of Christ’s rising.
Flowers at funerals remind of your care.
Flowers lift our spirits and inspire us.
We delight in picking flowers
to share with those who are sick
and to decorate the house.
Thank you, Lord God, for flowers
that remind us of your love. Amen.
Song of Solomon 2:12
The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.
When she had said this she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” Jesus said to her, “Mary!”
