Ah Lord, the front pews of our church
used to be full of old friends.
Now only one or two remain.
Even some in their 60’s or 70’s have gone.
Consider those who are left, Lord.
Have you a plan for who goes first?
Or is it just a matter of physically wearing out?
My grandparents lasted a long time.
Now, when I’m almost their age,
I wonder how much longer.
Aches and pains are creeping up
and becoming permanent.
We rely on you, Lord, for whatever is best.
But I would prefer to go before I’m senile
Your will be done.  Amen..

PSALM 71:18a
So even to old age and gray hairs, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to all the generations to come.
