O Lord, every day when I brush my hair,
many hairs are left in the brush.
My one grandmother had thinning hair
which she braided it into a knot
at the back of her head.
My other grandmother had
no appreciable loss of hair.
My husband is partially bald,
but hair loss in men is more common.
You didn’t stay on earth
long enough to grow old, Lord,
so you didn’t have thinning hair.
Help us accept such loss
with humor.

Matthew 10:30:
And even the hairs of your head are all numbered.

Lord, when international officials
sit at tables to discuss things,
we see lovely flower arrangements.
Some people in every country
enjoy the beauty of flowers.
Why can’t those people influence
the leaders or be the leaders?
We don’t need more irritations
that lead to war. The world
has become a dangerous place.
Lord, soften the hearts
of the leaders of the world.
If, as your followers, our sins
have been forgiven, why can’t we
return to the Garden of Eden
and enjoy the flowers?

Genesis 1:11:
Then God said, “Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it.” And it was so.

Luke 24:45-47:
Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and he said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.”

Hymn: He Leadeth Me: O Blessed Thought

Father God, in the morning
when we are together,
I sit with my feet up
on a big black bear footrest
that my girls gave me
a few years ago.
The bear has a different ribbon
tied around his neck
for the various seasons and holidays.
Sometimes visitors are startled
until they realize
that he is stuffed
He is both useful and a bit of fun.
We need to keep a sense of humor, Father
over some things that are hard to explain.

2 Kings 2:23-24:
He (Elisha) went up from there to Bethel; and while he was going up on the way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, saying, “Go away, baldhead! Go away baldhead!” When he turned around and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two she-bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys.
